The Cartridge Alignment Tool (CAT)The Cartridge Alignment Tool, or CAT, is a bench tool for checking and reducing the misalignment between a seated bullet and the axis of the cartridge case. Runout - a bullet that points slightly off-centre - can enter the bore at an angle and open up groups. With the CAT you can gauge the concentricity of a loaded round and gently true bullets that sit off-axis, so more of your ammunition chambers straight. It is a simple, repeatable way to bring borderline rounds closer to match quality without pulling and re-seating. The CAT suits precision, varmint and benchrest handloaders who already sort brass and weigh charges and want to close the loop on ammunition straightness.
