| NECO has been the pioneer and innovator in lapping thebore of firearms by means of firing imbedded bullets. This method of bore lapping is not really new. It was known to artillerymen of old. We have made the process predictable,scientific and effective. We use laboratory grade abrasives of the highest quality and consistency. There is no coarse grit abrasive polluting the fine grit. This pollution is definitely a problem with commercially availabe lapping mixtures. We certainly don't advocate the use of valve grinding and lapping pastes! The abrasives we use are easily imbedded in bullet jacket material and lead bullets. They do not imbed in the steel of a barrel. Pressure (Fire) Lapping Kits & AbrasivesFire lapping smooths a rough or tight bore by driving abrasive-coated bullets through it, polishing out tool marks and constrictions that cause fouling and inconsistent velocities. Done carefully, it can improve how easily a barrel cleans and how well it holds accuracy. This category offers graded abrasive kits - the Economy Abrasives Kit and the four-grit Four Abrasives Kit - plus individual jars of abrasive paste so you can replenish a single grit. Soft lead slugging bullets are included for slugging a bore to check its dimensions before and after lapping. Fire lapping is aimed at experienced handloaders comfortable loading light charges behind coated bullets and following a graded sequence from coarse to fine. Slug the bore first, work through the grits in order, and clean thoroughly between stages. |
